Nexera has teamed up with innovative leaders in the antimicrobial protected specialty textile market to develop a unique one-of-a-kind respirator mask which is proven to protect individuals from infectious disease. In a collaborative effort, and through certain exclusive arrangements, Nexera, Foss Manufacturing, LLC ("Foss") and AgION Technologies, Inc. ("AgION") have integrated several proprietary and patented technologies, to create what is believed to be the world's first and most consistent, reliable and effective antimicrobial respirator mask - The "SpectraShield™ Series of antimicrobial N99 respirator and surgical mask.

Patented Fiber Technology - Unlike other antimicrobials that are applied via topical coatings, the additive in Fosshield® is extruded as part of the fiber sheath during manufacturing, providing the most permanent, long lasting and effective exposure to damaging bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Equally as important, the antimicrobial agent will never wear, leach, or wash off.

Nexera has entered into a strategic alliance with Foss, a leader in specialty synthetic fibers and non-woven fabrics, to develop and manufacture antimicrobial products for the healthcare industry. Primarily, these antimicrobial products consist of the SpectraShield™ 9900 Series of respirator and surgical masks.

The strategic alliance provides Nexera an exclusive marketing and distribution license for all antimicrobial respiratory and surgical masks to the global healthcare markets and additional rights to all other healthcare and medical related products made from Fosshield®. Foss holds a U.S. patent for its development of Fosshield® technology, a synthetic fiber which kills and prevents the growth of a broad spectrum of harmful and destructive bacteria, mold and mildew without affecting the appearance or texture of the fabric even after multiple launderings. All of Nexera’s antimicrobial products are manufactured using Fosshield® antimicrobial fiber, which incorporate an ionic silver-copper agent. This combination has proven capabilities to fight the growth of microorganisms by providing a continuous, controlled-release of the silver-copper ionic agents over a long period of time, protecting products from bacterial and viral contaminations without causing antibiotic resistance.

Fosshield® was originally developed by and is currently manufactured by Foss, an industry leader in specialty nonwoven textiles located in Hampton, NH. Fosshield® has been used by NASA in a training project to prepare astronauts for space missions. This project allowed participants to practice long-duration life in space and evaluate equipment for the International Space Station. Part of the study considered how to protect crewmembers from bacterial growth in their clothing and linens while on space missions. In every evaluation, a significantly lower incidence of microbial growth in the Fosshield® fabrics was documented.

Toxicology
Extensive toxicology testing has been performed by AgION regarding the silver-copper ionic zeolite antimicrobial agent. Independent tests results indicate the antimicrobial agent to be safe and non-toxic causing no negative side affects, conditions, or consequences.
